In the heart of 5th Avenue's shopping and cultural district, Michael Glasser is MCO's local Optician who has more than thirty years of experience looking after customers. His dad before him established the shop in 1962 and they have been off and running ever since.
Michael knows more about eyewear than most people know about their own children! He can find a frame to fit any face and is an expert at giving advice on lenses for complicated or unusually strong Rx at a competitive price.
Michael is an avid outdoorsman and spends much of his time away from work hiking and fishing in the tri-state area. Always accompanied by his dogs, you'll find these companions with him wherever he goes. Dr. Palko has been in private practice in the Pittsburgh Oakland area since 1976. He was initially associated with Dr. Harry Wachs who was an early pioneer of rigid PMMA contact lenses in 1955, and with the use of gas permeable and early soft contact lenses since the early 1970's. In addition, Dr. Palko became an early pioneer of providing Low Vision Services for the visually impaired, including use of telescopic and microscopic systems along with access to technology when required.
After over 40 years of private practice, Dr. Palko decided to limit his work to care of his many long term patients, but only on a limited basis. In addition, he began doing eye examinations at Medical Center Opticians over the last four years. With his extensive background, suggestions for glasses, contact lenses, and other optical services are provided. In addition, medical referrals for specialty care are provided as needed.
